Where can I get my driver's permit/license?
The New York DMV is where you can get your driver's permit or license. It is also the place for you to obtain information and/or fill out forms. Locations are at White Plains, Peekskill, and Yonkers. You can only take your driver's test at Peekskill or Yonkers. The White Plains DMV is only for information.
Where can I take driver's ed/driving school?
WPHS students can sign up for either winter or spring sessions offered at Stepinac High School. To sign up download an application on the Stephinac website.
Where can I take a defensive driving course?

Where can I get automobile insurance?
Here are 2 options: State Farm or All State
How do I get a work permit?
To get a work permit, you need to obtain an application from the main office (HS) or the nurse's office (MS) which needs to be signed by your parent/guardian and a medical form completed by your doctor. You must also provide a copy of your social security card and one of the following: birth certificate, passport, license, or permit.
How do I get a job?
The City of White Plains Youth Bureau has a Youth Employment Department that helps teens find jobs. If you attend White Plains High School, you can go see your YES employment counselor in Room 126A Monday through Friday from 9-3. If you don't, you can go to the Youth Employment Department at the Youth Bureau, which is located at 11 Amherst Place (Eastview Middle School) back entrance.

How do I write a resume?
If you need assistance in writing a formal resume, you can take a class given by the White Plains Youth Bureau. The classes are held at the White Plains High School's College Career Center Thursdays after school from 3-4:30. See your YES employment counselor in Room 126A for more information.
How do I prepare for an interview?
Don't get nervous before an interview! The Youth Bureau's Youth Employment Department can help you develop the skills you need to get a job! See your YES employment counselor in Room 126A for more information.
Here are some tips that can help you out: Do shake the interviewer's hand and introduce yourself.
Do make good eye contact with your interviewer.
Do show enthusiasm for the position you're being interviewed for.
Do not fidget. Remember body language is a way of expressing your attitude.
Do not use poor language, slang and words such as "like", "uh" and "um".
Do not say anything negative about former colleagues, supervisors, and employers.
Do not lie. Answer questions truthfully!
Do not answer a question with just yes or no. Explain whenever possible. Describe those things about yourself that showcase your talents, skills and determination.
How old do I have to be to work?
You have to be at least 14 years old in order to be employed. Remember, once you turn 16, you have to update your blue working permit for a green one.
How many hours am I allowed to work?
Minors 14 and 15 years old may not work during the hours when they are required to attend school. When school is in session, from September to June, they must follow these regulations:

More than 18 hours in any week.
More than 6 days in any week.

How much should I get paid?
The New York State minimum wage is $7.25 per hour as of July 24, 2009. You should negotiate your hourly salary with your prospective employer prior to accepting the job. Wages vary based on your age and experience.
